Introduction

This program covers all the academic requirements for the Certificate of Competency as Deck Watchkeeper issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). It combines the Certificate in Pre-Sea Training (Deck), Certificate in Seagoing Training (Deck) and Diploma of Applied Science (Deck Watchkeeper) seamlessly into one complete package which is closely monitored by the AMC at various stages.

27th July, 2009 (Completion of this intake will be in the following year).

Admission & Prerequisites

Completion of Grade 12 with passes in Mathematics, Sciences and Grade 10 English.

Career Outcomes

This course provides an international qualification which allows the student to become a Watchkeeping Officer on any trading vessel of unlimited tonnage.


Articulation to/from Course


With additional sea time, the student can undertake the Advanced Diploma leading to the AMSA oral examinations for Chief Mate and thence Shipmaster, allowing the candidate to sail as a senior officer on trading vessels.
