Introduction
This on-campus, 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time course is offered by the Faculty of Business through the School of Management on the Hobart and Launceston campuses.
Admission & Prerequisites
Entry to the Tourism honours program is open to students who have completed the Bachelor of Tourism, Bachelor of Business with a Tourism major (or equivalent approved program) with a minimum GPA of 6.5 which constitutes an average of a credit for relevant 200 units and level 300 units.
Course Objectives
The honours year aims to: train graduates in advanced tourism theory and practice; promote disciplinary depth and theoretical knowledge in tourism studies; and provide opportunities for vocationally-related experience.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of the BTourism(Hons) degree will be strong applicants for jobs in a wide range of fields, for example:
- tourism and the travel industries;
- heritage tourism, museums and historic sites;
- wilderness, antarctic and nature tourism;
- tourism research; tourism marketing;
- tourism administration; tourism journalism and the media;
- other service industries and sectors.
