Introduction
As from 2010 there will be no new admissions into the course code E3B. In its place, the Bachelor of Education - Early Childhood (43A) and Bachelor of Education - Primary (43B) are being offered with the option to study on campus in Launceston and Cradle coast or externally*. Course and unit handbook information is being processed and will be available for web viewing soon.
* The option to study externally requires an ongoing position in a classroom setting in a school for half a day a week paid or voluntary.
This course is offered in the Faculty of Education by flexible delivery (which includes distance education, summer school, and on-line through the MyLO platform).
Admission & Prerequisites
Normal University admission requirements apply. Applicants must submit details of their qualifications and work experience so that an assessment can be made of their standing. Applicants must also provide evidence of (paid or voluntary) regular school classroom involvement in an instructional capacity for at least half a day a week.
Course Objectives
The Bachelor of Education (In-Service) enables candidates to pursue a course of study leading to the award of the four-year Bachelor of Education degree in primary teaching. The program provides further professional development for teachers with less than four-year teacher training qualifications. The degree is also accessible to other classroom practitioners wishing to undertake a teaching qualification.This degreerequires participants to explore current practical and theoretical issues in education while reflecting on their own teaching experiences in educational settings.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (In-Service) are qualified as four-year trained primary teachers.
Articulation to/from Course
Passes in units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this University, or another approved tertiary examining body, may be credited towards this degree, provided the Faculty may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required to do to qualify for the degree.
Credit is granted for qualifications more than 10 years old, only if the applicant can demonstrate current competency in that study.
