Introduction

This is an 18 month full-time or 3 year part-time course of study offered by the School of Economics and Finance in the Faculty of Business.

The course involves the completion of 12 units of study. This is a fee paying course. All units are subject to formal assessment including the completion of continuous assessment such as assignments, and a final examination.

Admission & Prerequisites

Candidates for the Master of Finance shall be qualified for entry if they have:

[i] completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution.

Course Objectives

This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to analyse financial markets, taking into account regulatory principles, risk management and the use of specialised financial instruments. Emphasis will be placed on providing internationally applicable principles of finance, and on the use of financial instruments as tools for risk management across a wide variety of situations.

Career Outcomes

This course offers participants from different academic backgrounds a qualification in finance. This will enable careers directly in banking and finance but also importantly contribute to the professional skills of the business, government and corporate world in dealing with the assessment and management of risk and resource distribution. The skills provided are increasingly important in decision making and appropriate management of scarce resources. The course particularly includes study in environmental finance.
