How is it possible to live well together when we are all different from one another? In this unit we will explore this idea of living well together by asking what ethical relationships and a just society might look like. We will also explore some of the differences between people which seem to have profound effects on how we live together: gender differences, racial differences, differences in class and social status, for example. How are our social relations influenced or shaped, for better and for worse, by these particular differences? To explore these questions we will analyse traditional and more contemporary theoretical frameworks and critically examine their influence and application in public and private realms of social relations.
