Aural and Keyboard harmony. Students will engage in a variety of activities aimed at connecting the theoretical and practical aspects of music making whilst developing deeper abilities in music literacy, harmonic analysis, rhythm, and improvisational/compositional techniques integral to jazz and contemporary music practice. At the completion of this unit students will have developed and advanced level of skill and understanding in the described areas and will be equipped to move into the final unit in the sequence which will focus on the application of these skills as they relate specifically to arranging.
Theory: 50% (1 x folio, 1 x exam)
Aural: 50% (2 x workshop tests, 1 x written exam, 1 x viva exam)
