SPECIAL NOTE: required unit for all BMus keyboard students Students are expected to attend masterclasses of visiting artists specific to their field of study (ie classical or contemporary).
The sixth of six graduated units of study. Through a 50 minute public recital as well as concerto performance (classical stream) or a professional quality CD of studio recordings (contemporary) the student will demonstrate comprehensive expressive, technical and musical skills to a professional level of excellence. All aspects of technique assessed in semester 1 and that have been continuously assessed throughout the degree should be at a level appropriate to entry-level professional demands.
End of semester performance exam, evaluation of work undertaken through the semester: 60%, 20-30 minutes of music
Weekly activities: 40%, assessment of the student's weekly preparation and participation in all unit activities, classes and rehearsals eg. teacher's mark, concert/repertoire diary, ensemble activities, excerpts performance et al
TEACHING PATTERN: 1-2 x 90 min performance classes or group workshop; 1 x 60 min specialist lesson (either group or 1-to-1 instruction); 1 x3 hr ensemble activity/rehearsal weekly
