SPECIAL NOTE: 

Musicology majors: all students in the musicology major will be assigned to a Conservatorium ensemble and are required to attend all rehearsals and participate in concert performances.

DESCRIPTION

This unit allows students to undertake a detailed investigation of selected topics associated with manuscript materials, notational and performance practices of music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

WEIGHT: 25%

ASSESSMENT:

Class assignments 40%, essay (4000wds) 30%, final examination 30%

1 x 2 hour lecture, weekly

1 x 1 hr tutorial, weekly
