DESCRIPTION

This unit continues the work of Ensemble Skills 1. In the second semester students consolidate the processes already introduced through the preparation and performance of new repertoire. Students are expected to keep a rehearsal chart 'book'/journal that details the repertoire and strategies chosen throughout the semester in rehearsal to improve performance.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Conductor/Tutor's assessment of weekly work: 30%
On-going rehearsal effectiveness assessment (e.g. individual vivas, peer review, observational review): 20%
Semester performances of prepared repertoire: 50%

TEACHING PATTERN:

Semester 1 and 2: Large, and/or conducted ensembles: Weekly 3 hour rehearsals/coaching sessions (12 weeks) or Small ensembles: Weekly 2 hour ensemble performance class/scheduled rehearsals, minimum 6 x 1hr coaching sessions
Semester 3, 4, and 5: 3-day weekends of sectionals and rehearsals totaling on average 20-30 hrs
