Complementary study is taken in either year two or year three as a specifically designed investigation to support the major study. The investigation is self-directed once the outline of the project has been agreed to by the Head of School. Students can choose a topic for special investigation that may be either practical or theoretical in nature. Normally BMus students may undertake only one complementary elective within their course of study.
ASSESSMENT: work-in-context assignment (20%), formal presentation of work undertaken during sem (80%)
successful completion of Year 1 (100%) of the BMus or equiv. Head of School Approval.

Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
