This unit aims to develop understandings about the cross-curricular perspective of Global Education, concerned with the following possible concept areas - identity and cultural diversity; social justice and human rights; peace building and conflict resolution; sustainable futures and interdependence and globalisation. Participants will first determine the characteristics of a global citizen and next explore case studies in selected areas in order to develop their own understandings and how these ideals can be introduced into the classroom. The unit also explores how associated concepts can be developed into teaching and learning sequences for primary or secondary school contexts. Participants will explore a range of quality teaching and learning materials.
