DESCRIPTION

This unit adopts a sociocultural approach to language and literacy and recognises their centrality to learning processes. Links will be made to students' own literacy capacities, and how these were acquired. This learning will be related to current theories of language development and acquisition, their impact on teaching and learning, and the literacy demands/requirements of the profession.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

Personal literacy journal (40%) Planning using texts (60%)

TEACHING PATTERN:

Face to face: Online lectures, 2 hrs tutorial x 13 weeks
Online: fully online with weekly readings and activities
