DESCRIPTION This unit builds on the basic knowledge from CXA107 Fundamentals of Bioscience to develop an understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, musculoskeletal, immune and endocrine systems. Principles of pharmacology are introduced and, through a systems based approach, the actions of commonly used medicines are explored. Microbiology, includinginfections, immunisation and the use of antibiotics are discussed in relation to health care environments and clinical practice.
This unit is offered in parallel to second year Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Paramedic Practice units and provides a bioscience foundation for these units.
