Set against a context of the Australian legal system and the distinction between public and private law, Legal Reasoning provides students with the skills needed for the study of law. Building on Introduction to Law (LAW121) and Legal Systems (LAW122) it provides an extensive grounding in the skills of common law reasoning, case application, statutory interpretation, problem solving, legal research, and legal writing. It also seeks to embed essential personal skills in time management, reflection and the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
