Intended for students who have no previous knowledge of the language. The unit is designed to provide a rapid survey of the Latin language sufficient to enable students to read the passages of adapted Latin found in the first three sections of
Reading Latin. It includes some historical and cultural background.
ASSESSMENT: weekly language and unseen exercises (40%), 3-hr exam in June (60%)
