In 1348 the bubonic plague ravaged Europe, and served as a catalyst in the transformation of the civilization of the middle ages. This unit examines major themes in the history of western Europe in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Topics include the Black Death, the Hundred Years War, the rural economy and social revolt, the Church and heresy, Joan of Arc and French nation-building, the Wars of the Roses, and the Waning of the Middle Ages.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
