DESCRIPTION Examines investigative techniques used to identify and understand social behaviour. Investigative interviewing and conversation management methods used in obtaining information and statements from such subjects as witnesses, complainants and suspects are examined. Policies, legislation and procedures dealing with incident scenes, investigating missing persons, the use of informants, the identification of suspected offenders and the execution of warrants are outlined, analysed and assessed.

ASSESSMENT: 2000 word written assignment (20%) 2 one hour tests (15% each = 30%) 2 hour end of semester exam (50%)
Students must achieve 60% or more in all assessment components in order to gain an Ungraded Pass in this unit.
