This unit covers three discrete but interrelated political phenomena: (i) the nature of green politics; (ii) the status of green political parties; and (iii) the role of 'greens' in government. It is concerned with tracing green ideas, values and politics from grass roots inception, through to green political platforms and the policy agendas of governments. Students will be encouraged to research the role that green parliamentarians play in government, but particularly as partners in elected government in Europe and elsewhere.
