Drawing on expertise from the major faiths represented within the Tasmanian community, this unit explores the ideas and commitments, and also the similarities and difference, that are constitutive of the world's major religious faiths, including Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Christianity. The focus is on acquainting students with the content of the faiths at issue, as well as with comparative and analytic study. An important aim is to enable greater understanding of the nature and varieties of religious experience, as well as to enable discussion of issues of tolerance and cross-cultural understanding.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
