Examines classical and contemporary views concerning the relation between philosophy and literature. A study is made of the writings of a number of philosophers, paying particular attention to issues concerning the nature of moral knowledge, its forms and the manner in which literature supplements and extends moral inquiry. The scope of moral principles and reasoning is examined in relation to questions concerned with the nature of the self and the place of subjective knowledge.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
