DESCRIPTION
Building on HMN104, this unit is designed for UTAS academics, professional staff and non-BA students who require a working knowledge of the Indonesian language with some specialised vocabulary to enable them to work in the field or undertake student placements, especially in medicine, business and science.
This unit has the same learning outcomes as HMN102, emplasising interactive use of the Indonesian language and an understanding of contemporary Indonesian society. It uses written text, audio, video and computers for language learning. It differs from HMN102 in that the content focus is on language and vocabulary required for professional situations and contexts in Indonesia.
WEIGHT: 12.5%
ASSESSMENT: Listening and speaking tests (25%), written tests (25%), oral/aural exam (30%), final written test
TEACHING PATTERN: 2 x 4 hour weekend sessions followed by 12 x 2 hour weekly classes followed by 2 x 4 hour weekend sessions
