Building on from HMJ200 units, this unit focuses on the development of situational/functional Japanese conversation skills. Students will develop conversation skills beyond everyday life situations, including: cultures in different countries, tourism, environment, gender roles, health and sickness, feelings and emotions. Students will also develop skills in oral presentation, reading and group work through the task-oriented use of the Internet and other resources.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Continuous assessment (60%), final 30-min oral exam (40%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 1 x 1-hr lecture, 2 x tutorials weekly (13 wks)
