DESCRIPTION

Examines the issues and problems facing contemporary Asian societies and states. Issues such as population control, deforestation, the position of women, human rights, ethnic/group relations and economic development will be analysed using a multidisciplinary approach.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

HMA221: Weekly online task (including one 200 word commentary, 25%), Short written assignment (750 words, 10%), Research essay (1500 words, 30%), Written exam (35%)

HMA321: Weekly online task (including one 300 word commentary, 25%), Short Written Assignment (1000 words, 10%), Research essay (2000 words, 30%), Written exam (35%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 1-hr lecture, 1-hr tutorial weekly (13 wks)
