DESCRIPTION

This unit provides students with an introduction to the theory and practices of broadcast journalism. Students will cover writing for radio and television, interviewing, researching, camera and sound recording, and editing. In addition, students will explore the electronic media industries and the challenges facing broadcast journalism.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT: News analysis 40%, portfolio of works and accompanying exegesis 60%

TEACHING PATTERN: 5 contact hours fortnightly
