DESCRIPTION

This unit provides students with advanced skills in news analysis and news writing. Students build their understanding of news by examining the professional practices of journalists and the broader political, social, economic and organisational dynamics impacting on news production; by drawing on a range of theories and methods commonly used in media research; and through producing news themselves. At the end of the unit, students should have developed an in-depth understanding of the processes and practices affecting news production and be able to research and write news stories at an advanced level.
