About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

An intensive beginners' unit, which in conjunction with HEG102 aims to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the main structures of the German language. During the four contact hours of this intensive course the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are taught employing a communicative method. The course is suitable for students with no prior knowledge, or for those with some basic prior knowledge. It is also recommended for those students who have not attained an award at TCE level sufficient for direct entry into 200-level German.

WEIGHT: 12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Weekly exercises (40%), two tests (15% each), one aural exam (10%), 100-word assignment in German (15%), tutorial tests (5%)

TEACHING PATTERN: Four contact hours per week.
