Modernism surveys key figures, texts and developments in modernist literature, with a focus on prose and poetry, from the end of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century. The unit will involve students in close readings and research of key texts in relation to the artistic, social, political, and philosophical developments and movements of the time

ASSESSMENT:
5,500 words or equivalent of assessment including: (1) Online Exercises and Short Essay (2000 words, 30%) OR Digital Narrative Project (3-5 minute audiovisual presentation, script + 800 word reflection piece, 30%); (2) Research Project (2000 words, 40%); and (3) Short Essay (1500 words, 30%)
TEACHING PATTERN: Internal: Five hours class contact fortnightly (13 weeks). Distance: 1.5 hours per week of audiovisually recorded lectures (13 weeks) accessed online; online exercises and activities.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus.
