Photography 1 will broaden your understanding of the photographic medium. You will be encouraged to explore fundamental elements of photography as strategic tools of communication and to build your own visual vocabulary. Concepts and skills are introduced through a series of demonstrations/workshops. Weekly thematic slide lectures provide students with an overview of historical and contemporary photography, and support projects that advance technical proficiency and the student's capacity to transform concepts into photographic imagery. Regular group critiques and individual consultation with the lecturer foster the exchange of ideas and provide feedback on student progress.
