Provides a course of vocal, instrumental or compositional study, covering both technique and repertoire. Composition students will be guided in the development of an individual style of composition in a variety of musical genres. A program of study will be established on an individual basis with regard to the needs and stage of development of each student, a wide range of styles and idioms being introduced. Emphasis will be placed on progressive development throughout the duration of the course.
WEIGHT: 25%
ASSESSMENT: instrumental/vocal performance: 20-min recital (50%), technical exam (50%); composition: presentation of a folio (50%), analysis exam (50%).
TEACHING PATTERN: 1 x 90 min performance class; 1 x 60 min specialist lesson (either group or 1-to-1 instruction); 1 x3 hr ensemble rehearsal weekly
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
