Composition 4B is the second semester of Honours study of the technical and expressive skills for music composition. By this stage, you will have completed an undergraduate degree in composition consisting of projects designed to establish writing skills and compositional craft, and therefore established the development of your 'voice' through the handling of instrumentation, pitch, rhythm, harmonic language and formal concepts. Through working with composers and instrumentalists on more self-directed projects, in Composition 4B you will select a specific variety of pieces to compose, based on specific areas of your interest and inclination as established in Composition 4A, interact with ensembles, study new works, and further develop your knowledge of writing and analytical skills to complete the Honours portfolio of compositions.
