This unit aims to develop an understanding of the requirements of children's and community choirs, in terms of both vocal development and supportive rehearsal techniques. Particular emphasis will be given to the safe development of children's singing voices. A variety of teaching strategies will be presented and explored through the use of a wide range of appropriate repertoire, both a cappella and accompanied. Conducting, programming and other aspects of performances will be an important part of the course.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
