Diction, for singers, represents the ability to communicate. Singers must understand text and meaning; to perform convincingly they must also be able to integrate movement, gesture, and technical processes effectively and with efficiency. This unit aims to provide in-depth studies across a range of singer specific skills. A broad spectrum of areas will be included in order to enhance key performance skills. Singers' diction (IPA based), stagecraft (scenes), vocal health and physiology, performance practice (including critical listening), vocal pedagogy and vocal repertoire will be included.
