Students enrolling in this unit attend an intensive practical performance program and participate in a variety of activities designed to provide intensive pre-professional training in ensemble practices. During the rehearsal/performance period students are expected to be able to respond quickly and effectively to the demands of the specific ensemble situation, personnel and music.
WEIGHT: 25%
ASSESSMENT: Conductor/Tutor's assessment: 30%
On-going rehearsal effectiveness assessment (observational review): 20%
Performances: 2 public concerts of prepared repertoire: 50%
TEACHING PATTERN: Semester 1 and 2: Weekly 2 x 3 hour rehearsals/coaching sessions (12 weeks) or
Semester 3, 4 and 5: 2 x 3-day weekends of sectionals and rehearsals totaling an average 40-60 hrs
