Principles of Economics 2 is a compulsory unit in the Bachelor of Economics (BEc). It is a compulsory unit in the two economics majors offered by the School of Economics and Finance and is also a nominated elective in a wide range of other programs throughout the University of Tasmania.
Principles of Economics 2 is the second in a sequence of two foundation level economics units offered by the School of Economics and Finance. Principles of Economics 2 enables students to improve decision making in all domains of their lives, to better understand aspects of the macroeconomic policy environment in which business managers operate and the choices faced by policy makers in the task of macroeconomic management. Taken together with Principles of Economics 1, Principles of Economics 2 provides students with a comprehensive introduction to economic theory and policy, and forms a strong foundation for students planning to continue their study of economics.
