This on-campus course is offered at Launceston, Hobart, Rozelle and Darlinghurst on a full time or part time basis. The course length is a minimum of one year of full-time study and a maximum of two years part time.
Admission & Prerequisites
To be admitted to the honours program a student must hold a Bachelor of Nursing, normally with a minimum of a credit average acrossthe final4 full semesters of the degree.
The objectives of the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours are:
Develop an understanding of individual responses to nursing practice and how this impacts on research.
Develop the ability to critically and theoretically analyse a context or aspect of practice and apply this analysis to the research project.
Conduct a modest but rigorous research project that incorporates an appropriate research design and demonstrates critical engagement with the phenomenon of interest.
Contribute to a scholarly community through dialogue, debate and critique.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours may enter graduate/professional development programs in Australian healthcare systems. Graduates are prepared to undertake postgraduate research and activities; and gain preferential access to postgraduate courses.
Articulation to/from Course
Graduates holding first class (I) or upper 2nd class (IIA) BN (Hons) are eligible to apply for PhD candidature.
