Introduction
This course is offered on a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) basis to eligible domestic students. Student Contributions are established per unit and can be found in the unit descriptions within the course schedule. This on-campus, one year full-time (or, up to 4 consecutive years part-time) course is available at Hobart and/or Launceston (not all specialisations are available on both campuses). Some units will be available by off-campus study, but not in sufficient numbers at this stage to complete the degree in this mode.

*Creative Writing may also be offered in Cradle Coast Campus, subject to sufficient numbers of students.
These course rules and specifications apply to students commencing thecourse in 2012. For students who commenced prior to 2012, the applicable course rules are those from the year of commencement. i.e. students who commenced in 2006 should refer to the 2006 Handbook.
Admission & Prerequisites
Normal admission requirement are:
successful completion of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Arts (Specialisation); or
a Bachelor of Arts degree or its equivalent from the University of Tasmania; or
a university degree from another university or tertiary institution, deemed to be appropriate by the Faculty of Arts; or
candidates not holding a bachelor's degree but whose employment experience indicates a level of knowledge and skill deemed by the Faculty to be sufficient to complete the course satisfactorily may be deemed eligible for admission.
Course Objectives
Graduate Diploma of Arts (Specialisation) (R6W)
It is intended that, upon completion of this course, students will:
1. Be able to apply logical, critical and creative thinking in the discipline, applying knowledge and skills gained from the Graduate Certificate (R5W).
2. Have acquired advanced level knowledge, attributes and specialist expertise in the discipline.
3. Be able to critically reflect upon a diverse range of issues in the discipline area.
Articulation to/from Course
Where specialisations permit, students who have satisfactorily completed the requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Specialisation) may proceed to the Master of Arts (Specialisation). Students who complete 50% of units (including any core units) may elect to take out the Graduate Certificate.
Credit Credit may be given, at the discretion of the Faculty, for previous postgraduate or honours level study, or alternative achievements by students in other awards and professional practice areas at equivalent level.
