The Graduate Diploma in Journalism is offered on a full fee-paying basis on the Hobart campus. It is normally two semesters full time or may be taken part-time over four semesters.

These course rules and specifications apply to students commencing the Graduate Diploma in Journalism in 2006. For students who commenced prior to 2006, the applicable course rules are those from the year of commencement. i.e. students who commenced in 2004 should refer to the 2004 Handbook.

Admission & Prerequisites

Students with undergraduate degrees or equivalent will be accepted into this postgraduate program.

Course Objectives

Graduates from this program will gain a variety of vocational skills sought after by the media industry, including computer assisted reporting, non linear editing and digital camera work, advanced writing skills, understanding of legal, ethical and political implications of the journalist's profession, and a fundamental understanding of the media. Students can choose to focus their studies on environmental journalism.

Credit

Students with other postgraduate awards may apply for credit.


Articulation to/from Course


Students who complete an additional Major Research Project (50%) are eligible to graduate with a Master of Journalism degree.
