Introduction
This on-campus, 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time honours degree course is offered at the Hobart Campus in the School of Accounting and Corporate Governance, and the School of Management (incorporating Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, International Business, Tourism and Business Management). The School of Accounting and Corporate Governance and the School of Management may offer their honours programs in Launceston but that is subject to sufficient enrolment numbers. The School of Accounting and Corporate Governance will offer its Honours program in Hobart subject to sufficient enrolment numbers.
Admission & Prerequisites
Entry to the Business Honours program is open to students who have completed the Bachelor of Business (or equivalent approved qualification) with an average of distinction or higher in at least 50% of the final year units of the pass degree. Honours candidates in Management require an average of credit or higher for the 200 and 300 level units forming the relevant major(s) in their degree. Candidates in Management must also have passed the unit BMA205 Marketing Research or an acceptable equivalent unit.
Course Objectives
The aim of the honours year is to enable students to develop further their interests and research skills and to provide a foundation for postgraduate study in Business.
Articulation to/from Course
Graduates of BBus, BEc, BBus-LLB, BTourism or a BBA degree may seek enrolment in BBus(Hons)
The BBus(Hons) may lead to a coursework masters degree or to one or both of the research higher degrees - a Master of Commerce and /or a PhD.
