Introduction
The Master of Music (coursework) is a two-year coursework award designed to suit the needs of practising professional musicians.
Admission & Prerequisites
Admission to the Master of Music (coursework) is by application and audition. Performers are expected to prepare at least 30--40 mins of music that demonstrates their musical skills. Composers are to submit a folio of recent work either as scores, sound recording, video or a combination of these.
Course Objectives
The course is designed to support advanced studies in instrumental/vocal performance, composition and music technology. Primary concentration will be given to the development of high level technical and music skills within the specialist area.
On completion of this course students should have:
developed advanced skills as performers and/or composers
acquired increased skills in their particular area
developed a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of repertoire and concepts
acquired research and communication skills commensurate with postgraduate study.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of the Master of Music are engaged at all levels of the music profession, both in Australia and overseas. They enjoy successful careers as performers, teachers and administrators, or may be involved in broadcasting, journalism or as music critics.
Articulation to/from Course
Students who have completed, but not graduated in, the Graduate Diploma of Music, may apply for entry to the Master of Music and receive full credit for all GradDipMus units completed.
