A Master of Design research degree enables a candidate to undertake a program of research and advanced study in a specialist field. The research takes place over 2 years of study or equivalent part-time and normally results in a thesis or equivalent of traditionally circa 40-50,000 words, written in English, or an approved design project and accompanying exegesis.
The research topic will reflect the candidates' own interests and the research expertise of their supervisors. Further information on the research areas of supervisors in these disciplines is available from the Web Access Research Portal (WARP) site.
The campus of study will vary depending on the location of the candidate, the supervisor and the research field.
A Master of Design degree provides an entry to a doctorate at a university, and graduates are also highly sought after for positions across the spectrum of available careers. Master of Design graduates take up roles in areas such as architecture, interior design, and industrial design.
