Introduction
This one year full-time course is offered on-campus at the School of Architecture & Design (Launceston) to develop specialist Interior Design and research skills. The course enhances both employability in practice and eligibility to enter a higher degree.
Admission & Prerequisites
Before commencing their course of study for the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Design with Honours (Interior Design) students shall have:
Qualified for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Design (Interior Design) (BEnvDes [Int Des]) in this University or qualified for admission to a degree in another design course in a tertiary institution approved by the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology; and
Achieved an Average Weighted Mark of at least 60% in the core units of the final year of the BEnvDes (Int Des) course or an equivalent design course in another tertiary institution approved by the Faculty.
Career Outcomes
Students graduating from the Bachelor of Environmental Design (Interior Design) and Bachelor of Environmental Design with Honours (Interior Design) will both be recognised as Interior Designers. However, as the Interior Design profession in Australia recognises a greater level of design maturity and skills ability from students graduating from a four-year degree, students graduating from the four-year Honours degree will have an employability advantage.
