Introduction
The Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning) is a 4-year in-service and pre-service course intended to provide teaching practice and skills to the experienced and beginning teacher in vocational education and to lay a foundation for further professional development in both theory and practice of education. The course will be offered full time or part time and by distance/on-line Hobart, Launceston, Cradle Coast, Interstate, Isolated, and Offshore.
The Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning) is a contemporary, flexible and creative response to the demand for a more skilled teaching workforce in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. It offers students the opportunity to integrate theory with practice, recognising existing skills and knowledge of experienced vocational practitioners, whilst acknowledging the challenges these students face as they further develop their teaching practices and professionalism.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning) will be qualified to teach in the Tasmanian Polytechnic and public and private sector schools. Graduates will also be highly sought as teachers in TAFEs and private RTOs, trainers in the defence force, emergency and law enforcement, nursing and hospitality and in communication-based jobs in industry training, call centres and public relations.
Articulation to/from Course
The course articulates into the Bachelor of Education Honours course and the Faculty's postgraduate coursework courses.
